OK ive had alot of fights about this lately. Which messaging sytem is better? I have friends that say MSN is not used as much as AIM but is so much better and user friendly. Thing is though NOBODY uses MSN. But I've used it and it does seem better but lacking in the populatiry department. Now YIM I've never tried and doubt i ever will, since all ive heard is that it sucks compared to the other two. Now I persoannly like AIM better, but what do you guys think?
I know this is a reatarded question but, better than nothing. I included myspace IM also but i doubt anyone uses that.

Definitely use AIM. I thought the myspace IM still didn't work lol. MSN is lame and yahoo IM is not popular.

I've always used MSN. I have used AIM as well but most of my friends tend to use MSN, so I go with the flow.

Trillian wins, as it can do all three protocols.

Adium wins.
But really, I'd have to say MSN. There are a lot of things I don't like about AIM, especially the new one.. AIM Triton or whatever. Besides, most people around here use MSN. I only use AIM because I know some people online who use it. So it's like, MSN = offline buddies, AIM = online buddies. 1. The rate limit sucks. Seriously. I can't even type a lot of messages quickly when I want to without it harassing me. 2. The emoticons. 'nuff said. 3. How the IMs intrusively pop up when I'm doing something, such as playing a game that takes up the whole screen. Then out of no where, the game minimizes because of a damned IM. Doesn't happen with MSN. 4. How you can't talk when you're away. Well, I guess you can technically, but it shows your away message everytime someone responds which gets annoying fast.
YIM is pretty sucky overall, but the multi coloured font is kind of cool.

popularity depends more where you are =O
like in the US AIM is very widespread while you'll basically find noone from other countries using it
i prefer MSN but i'm using trillian too (also for IRC)
myspace is just retarded

Ok yeah, i just started using trillian and it pwns major since people i knoe from out of state use MSN, and everyone i know from school uses aim. Yeah Ill agree with whoever said Aim Triton sucks, cause it does. No icons on there other than the gay aim expression ones, looks fruity, and its hard to add friends on there(how the hell do you add them on there? ). I use the other AIM program, the one used before triton. Also the thing you said about the popup chat windows during games, only msn does that to me, and ruined the best game I ever played on C & C. +( I have YIM, IRC, and ICQ enabled also, but don't have a clue of anyone who uses those. O and the multicolored font thing, isnt there a way to do that with aim? Back when i had AOL 9.Gay, a few friends of mine knew how to do something like that. And with different areas, i did notice a trend in some places with a large group of people using MSN versus the number of people using AIM. And one last thing, hey Dark, did you used to have an account in a place called Game Castle or Something? It was like a vritual arcade thing where you had to walk into the doors to get into the lobbys for the 7-8 different games they had. I know its a weird question but there was a group of people who were into RP'ing in the games that nobody played, and you reminded me of one of them.

The new AIM is terrible. My AIM i use is about 3 years old. I still have the install for it incase of an emergency because the new one is just plain annoying. But everyone I know uses AIM so thus why I do.

I don't really remember it but I think you're talking about the one with a space sort of look. I don't remember the name of it either, but I know it was something like: Game Something. Anyway, I was the second admin there for a while. And I agree with what Ghosty said about MSN and AIM.

Yeah, I go to this one forum frequented by mostly Scandinavians and other Europeans, and MSN is their weapon of choice. Same with just about any Korean forum I go to, as MSN supports two-byte characters in handles.

MSN, only cos everyone else at school uses it and I cba to switch to Trillian, which would be the smarter choice though I've never used it. The concept of combining IM programs seems like a good idea to me. Also have Google Talk cos someone forced me to -_- but I'm shunning Skype.
