I thought "I am Legend" was a horrible adaptation, they should have opted to use a different title for the movie considering how much the plot differed from the book, I was majorly disappointed

Was it an adaptation of a book called "I am Legend"? When was it written cause I know this movie is almost dead similar to the Vincent Price movie "Last man on Earth".
The subtitle even says "The last man on earth is not alone..." so I figured it was souly based off of "Last man on Earth".

"I Am Legend" was written in 1954 by Richard Matheson, "The Last Man on Earth" came out in 1964 then "The Omega Man" came out in 1971. The tLMoE was a closer adaptation of the novel than Omega Man.
I Am Legend the novel pioneered the Zombie genre in movies. George Romero of Night of the Living Dead fame admits that I Am Legend played a major role in the writing process of his film as an inspirational role.

A lot of times im disapointed to find out that a lot of movies are originally based off of books. I dont know maybe I just want to believe that people are still comming out with original ideas nowadays but more and more im just seeing remakes and book-to-movie movies.
Maybe its cause I dont read a whole lot of books and am more into movies that I feel this way. I had a guy tell me that smart people read the books of the movies and that only stupid people who cant read watch the movie. Of course this guy was a complete outcast in high school and to be perfectly honest, he had not 1 friend. But thats just how some people feel about them.
I mean really, why do "smart" people only read the books? It wouldnt make any sense. Most of the people in the US can fucking read anyway, just like most people can sit down and stare at a movie for 2 hours. I have to say though, that I felt more consumed by the Lord of the Ring trilogy movies than I did the books themselves. Thats where I feel that movies nowadays can make you feel more like your actually there due to better acting and special effects than they had 60 years ago (in most cases its true, out of all the movies back then only a few each year really stand out as superb movies compared to nowadays it seems).
PS: I lol'd when I read what it said under your avatar drotteni. I must have never noticed that before. ;D

I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was decent. It was not superb in any real area but it was fluid and put together well. However the random arrival of the girl and her son was odd and the thing ended badly. Beside that it was a fun movie to go see and my brother filled me in on the book which sounded better.

I can't believe Heath is dead. He was found yesterday in his apartment with prescription sleeping pills lying around. Apparently he ODed but it is definitely not suicide. It is said that he had a hard time sleeping because of the Joker's character. He studied the character very seriously and was so shook up by his ways.

I could have sworn he kept himself sleep depraved on purpose so he could get himself in to a sort of psychotic mindstate (insomnia really fucks with your head) to try to be as much like the Joker as possible, he only slept like 2 hours a day. But I could have sworn he did it all on purpose.

That might be true. He locked himself up in a hotel room for about 6 weeks to prepare for the role. However, if he did do it on purpose, why would he be talking the pills now that filming is over?

Well maybe once you become an insomniac it could be that your body is so used to it that you cant just simply go to sleep for 10 hours and get over it. He might have needed the sleeping pills to get to sleep because his body was so used to the lack of it and he actually couldnt sleep.
I dont know anything about disorders so I could be completely off on this but it seems most logical.
