I don't know if many of the people that post here are fans of anime, but there are some good shows out now that I enjoy watching. Also, I am president of the anime club at Virginia Tech although most members are more into it than I. Anyway here are the current shows I'm watching/just finished.
Currently watching: Bleach Naruto Shippoden Gundam 00 Rental Magica D-Gray Man
Just finished: Night Wizard the Animation Blue Drop Doujin Works

Tip: Start reading the manga for Naruto - the anime is way too slow nowadays. Or maybe it just seems slow to me because I know what's going to happen. Meh.
Anyways this is what I'm currently watching or plan to watch soon:
-Naruto: Shippuuden -Gundam 00 -GTO -Deathnote -Elfen Lied -Claymore -Nodame Cantabile (sp?)
What I recently finished watching:
-Basilisk
What manga I'm currently reading:
-Highschool of the Dead -Naruto: Shippuuden
I'm in an anime club as well and we plan on watching Gundam 00 soon. I might attend Anime North this year if I'm free and it will be my first convention.

I don't read manga because it's A. expensive and B. addicting and I can never put it down or stop. Claymore - watched and it was awesome . You will like it as we seem to have very similar show tastes. Elfed Lien - good show and a bit crazy. Deathnote - read most of the manga and the show is just as good Gundam 00 - very good new show...probably the best outside of Bleach and Naruto. It's probably the best Gundam show since Wing. Basalisk - the club watched this one but I missed it as we do showings from 7-11pm every tues and I can't stay the whole time. Conventions - cool you definitely should go to one. I've probably been to about 10 conventions now....well let me just list them. Otakon in Baltimore MD- went twice Katsucon in Washington D.C. - twice, going a third time this Feb AnimeUSA now in Washington D.C. -twice Anime Mid-Atlantic Richmond, VA my hometown- three times Animazement Durham, NC my dad's town - twice Nekocon Hampton Roads, VA - once and the smallest con of the ones listed One year I went to Anime Mid-Atlantic , Otakon, AnimeUSA and the next Katsucon, Anime-Mid-Atlantic, Animazement and AnimeUSA haha. Yeah I like going to them because A. I get drunk with my friends all weekend, B. see interesting costumes C. Love techno music and dancing and D. Cool guests. What I don't go for is to meet crazy people and to hook up with random people.

Well I can understand manga being addictive but as for expensive - just download for free from sites like Narutofan. And I recommend Highschool of the Dead, especially if you're into the whole zombie genre. You have to watch Basilisk, it's a pretty good ninja anime. What I don't go for is to meet crazy people and to hook up with random people. lol whut? Hahaha. I'm pretty sure there's a few nutty folks there.

I watch Dragonball Z...and thats about it.
Actually I have been constantly considering buying Samurai 7. Has anyone seen any of these and know if they are any good? I like japanese culture and would like to get more into it, taking intrest in its arts is one way so if anyone has any recommendations of really good anime's for me I'd appreciate it.
I see a lot of people watch Naruto, but i've seen about half an episode and it seemed to kidish to me. I kind of want a more mature type of anime, im not a big fan of robot battles though, but fighting is always a plus with me.
C'mon Landon, Dark, help me out!
PS I like samurai, maybe something along those lines?

Basilisk involves ninjas. It's pretty good and not too long. Deathnote isn't very realistic but it isn't kidish either.
Along the lines of Samurai Animes, I heard that Samurai Champloo is pretty sweet. I might check it out myself once I find some time.

And I recommend Highschool of the Dead, especially if you're into the whole zombie genre. Looked for this online but its not out in US yet, found a page that had some translations but they were broken english and pages werent big enough size to read. I got about 20 pages into it. Read about it on wiki and saw that they have Shaun from Shaun of the Dead in their briefly XD thats pretty funny. I'd proably pick up the first book if it was out here.
I started watching an episode of Death Note on Youtube and I was wondering why the voice acting was the bad and the plot was so stupid until I realised is was a fan parody doing voice overs...god help me im retarded.
Went to Funimations website for Basilisk and watched some of the death scenes on there (yeah they are spoilers but who gives a fuck) and I have to say that I like the art style a lot. Though I didnt read up on what the story is about or anything like that. Is there only 24 episodes overall for Basilisk?

I'll hook you up with the manga. If anyone else wants it, PM me.
Basilisk is indeed 24 episodes but it feels longer. You will like it as every episode is a cliffhanger.

I saw Deathnote a while back subbed and I have to say it's among my favorite anime. The intense battle of wits is incredible and its overall presentation is very well done.
I'm currently looking for an anime with a similar serious/high-octane premise that Deathnote had. Anyone have suggestions?

I heard somewhere that Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team is an awesome anime. It's not an anime that is OMGWTFPWN gundams, but one where the pilots actually have to use strategy to win. I can't give you my word that it's as good as Deathnote, but it's worth a shot.

Samurai Seven the anime is not that good and disappointing. Samurai Champloo is a really good anime and probably the best of the more recent samurai animes to come out in the past few years. It's out in the U.S. dubbed and aired on Cartoon Network a year or two ago. Basalisk was rated highly in the anime club and I recommend that too. Death Note anime rocks hardcore and is on Cartoon Network now.

I forgot to mention sometime but it's worth an additional post. If anyone wants to acquire practically any anime show, my club will send you whatever show you want if you send in blank DVD-Rs and a small donation. Here is a link to our library page with more info; filebox.vt.edu/users/gslota/VTAS%20Library.htm

I haven't actually tried it myself. Anyway you can just send me $ to cover a donation and postage and I can send you whatever shows you want. Just send me a PM if you want certain shows and I'll get back to you from there.

Hmmm, apparently we're not going to be watching Gundam 00 in anime club. Instead, there are 2 new shows: Clannad and Kaiji. I hope they're good.
