a gba sp is most definitely worth getting. the coolest thing about it is the flipping screen and the little light that lines the screen. that light is powerful stuff (just turn it on in a dark room and you'll know what i mean). and it's so small too, which is a plus. the only downside about it is that you can only recharge it using the cord. say if you're going on a long trip or something or going to some foreign country where they don't have the same outlets and the battery runs out. then you're pretty much screwed.
or is there an alternative way?
