&start Ritual is no more in standard? No more duals? Good, they were too expensive anyway. No more Ritual. They printed some weak replacements but obviously nowhere near as good. Ritual was kinda broken with some of the cards they started printing I guess. Still, theres nothing like having 3 or 4 2/2's on the first turn now is there?

Black was a beatdown color, everything it had went toward that goal. Hand and creature distruction, ritual, semi fast creatures. Withoiut ritual, its dead.

&start All you guys have lost me... You are obviously not a Magic player then. One of my favorite cards/decks of all time was Hatred. I think I still have 4. I always wanted a t-shirt with that on it. Does anybody know if they ever made those? Maybe I'll just make one myself. I always thought it would be kinda (read extremely) dorky to wear a M:tG shirt, but I woulda worn a Hatred one. Or a Living Death one, ha ha. Living Death.....AFHREFHADFHRHAFhdfa drool.....

I would have worn hatred, overrun, wrath of god, force of will, or mogg fanatic t-shirts.

I would have worn hatred, overrun, wrath of god, force of will, or mogg fanatic t-shirts. Ooh yeah, Wrath woulda made a good shirt for sure. Did you ever see those shirts that just have the picture of a Mana symbol on the front? They have one for each color. Obviously the black one is the coolest looking. I had an idea for a Magic shirt. Anybody who gets this will realize how much of a geek I can be. It would have a picture of two untapped Island cards on the front and on the back it would say "Islands are Broken". Ha ha ha. I want to know how many people get that. Well now adays your shirt has a lot of meaning. Those god damn counter spells piss everyone off as well. As for $ and magic, I haven't spent near as much as most people that play do. I am probably right with sokar on spending.

Still, theres nothing like having 3 or 4 2/2's on the first turn now is there? I stopped playing Magic after Mirage, because they started adding all these stupid rules. For example, I had my old-school deck which is very good, but my friend killed me because he had "Shadow" cards and I didn't. Also, the Buyback rule is stupid. So, I would only play Magic again if there was some guarantee that my opponents would be playing old-school style, and not with any of the new crap. Oh, and on the topic of money, my Magic career has cost me close to $400, and I have no regrets.

Oh, and on the topic of money, my Magic career has cost me close to $400, and I have no regrets. I hate to tell you this, but shadow is old-school now haha. If your deck couldn't deal with a couple shadow creatures I would like to know what kind of deck it was. Part of the appeal of this games is the fact that there are always new mechanics and different ways for cards to interact. If it stayed the same all the time I doubt it would have the longevity that it has had. I don't even know how much money I have spent on Magic. Probably close to $2000-$3000 at least. I was pretty competitive with my deck building so I used to buy alot of singles. That's where it really gets expensive. Especially if you were playing extended or something.

It loses some of the appeal. I was buying singles, never boosters.
