Holy Crap have you seen this movie!?

At the lockin last night (pictures up when my server stops screwing up) we watched a movie called "Battle Royale." It is a Japanese movie with subtitles. It is crazy because of what the movie is about. I will break it down for you:

Japan- 15% unemployment, 800,000 kids revolting against school. Stabbing teachers and moching adults.

Law is passed know as the BR Act. This is what the movie is about.

BR Act aka Battle Royale Act = every year the government chooses a 9th grade class of kids, takes them to a island, then gives them weapons and gear and makes them fight each other to the death last man standing style. In other words= 9th graders must kill each other and last man standing gets to go home.

Let me get into a little more detail:

each kid (guys and gals) are given a random weapon. Anything from a pot lid to a uzi. (sucks to get the lid). They have collars on them to track their movement. If they go to a "danger zone" the collar will explode killing them instantly. There are 2 "fixers" added to the class. One is a previous winner and the other just wanted to kill people. The previous winner packs a shotgun and the killer gets a uzi from killing a guy.

This movie is about 9th graders killing each other by stabbing shooting, tazoring, cutting throats, crossbowing, you name it.

[glow=DarkGreen,2,300]Sorry Landon, but I don't think that that movie sounds very good at all. Sure, it may have a lot of action, but the story sounds very stupid. I do like action movies, but for me to like them they have to have at least a half decent plot to go along with them.[/glow]

Even though it is violent and what not, it is actually fairly good. It is just so off the wall that you should see it.

I have this movie on VCD. Haven't seen the whole thing though. Oh and I agree you should see it even though the plot doesn't "sound" decent.

Am I dreaming? this movie sounds awesome! Just think about how great that would be, killing the person that you've hated since the 5th grade and so on, its the best way to legally kill someone without being charged for murder ;D not to mention weapons ;D

The movie is supposed to make you think and take a look at society. Of course it won't happen. I am going to pick up the book soon and read it too.

i went to one of the sites and read the reviews and the what not...it seems interesting...i'll take a look at the book. Do you think they'll release it in the US?

Mystria, it *is* released in the US. You can pick it up off of Amazon.com translated, and you can get it from secondhand bookstores.

In other news, I've read the book, seen the movie, and own the first four volumes of the manga. It's a very thought provoking book.

Yeah and I heard the manga is also good. I am glad someone here has read it and seen it. My friend said they sell the book at Barnes and Noble for $10 so I am going to pick it up tomorrow after school.

This is the first time I have read a book for fun in 4 years or so. The last time I tried I got halfway through a dragonlance novel and quit. I have to find someone that really interests me to enjoy reading.

Well in the book, instead of taking one class a year they take 50. That makes a little more sense. The purpose is to spread fear in the school kids and to make an example.
