I purchased this game a few months back and began to play it. For some reason the battle system REALLY bothers me. Call me lame, but I just love the turn based battles like in the FF series and can't get into any other form of battle system.
I'm leaving for MCRD Parris Island on the 26th of January and I have set myself a few goals. I must beat FFVI and FFVII again, if I had time I would most likely try and beat SO2. Hell, I prolly could, but I think I rather spend some of the time when I am not gaming with the friends and family.
It's a buy for any RPG fans collection.

I heard it is quite a challenge toward the end of the game so prepare for some intense battling.

Linga Sanctuary... Is that the place where Bowman asks you to discover a totally new plant/herb? If so, I think your getting closer, though you still have a ways to go.
Yes, the final battles are extremely difficult, which is a nice twist from these new, easy final fantasies. The final battle took me at least 30 tries. I got so pissed sometimes, like I had him down to about 1/10 of his health with all of my party members, and he casts this giant spell thing 3 times in a row and just wipes the floor with me. I eventually got him though ;D ;D ;D
