Only negative thing about it is that there's no GBA slot.

Yeah I think it is pretty tight with the SD flash card and camera......but honestly the more I think about it the less I like. First off do I really need to listen to music/pictures on my DS? Honestly if you own an Ipod or any Mp3 player then no. Second is the camera really worth it? Well if you got a phone that takes photos then no again. So now the size is a bit smaller (i think) and there is some other benefit I am missing. Personally I may just keep my original DS for a bit longer.

All valid points, but I may end up buying it as my DS Lite is having some problems. The top screen's picture quality becomes so blurry that it hurts the eyes to stare at it for long periods of time. Too bad its been more than a year since I bought it...But if I get the DSi, I'll just use my Lite to play GBA games since the bottom screen is still functioning. Those bastards! My wallet can't take these new versions that keep coming out! I know...Nintendo must think that students are loaded nowadays.

Read a few days ago that the battery life is about 3 hours shorter than the Lite. Well screw that, unless they make some very good DSi exclusive stuff I aint buying it.

i think the BIGGEST reason to get this little guy is that short bit of downloadable.
depending on the size of the harddrive, and size of SD cards out by that time (ive seen 4g sd cards for like 150 bucks), it might be completely worth it only for ROMS for GBA, GBC and GB. depending on how well it works, it may run anything up to psx days with ease (the psp does, and can even play psx games).
emulation is where it is at for handhelds. if i could play TO on the go, or ff7, or xenogears, then i would get this. the only qualm i have now...why get this over the psp? i could just get a psp for its few games, switch out memory cards to play emulator, and a dslite for the few ds games i want.

The DS can already be emulated. And the whole "downloadable" aspect of the DS is going to basically be:
Buy the game from the Wii's online store. Send it to your DSi SD card and play it on the go.
With that said, you have to pay for all the games you put on your DSi. If you really want to emulate games on your DS and want it free there are many hardware solutions out there that involve no modding at all. The DS cannot handle PSx graphics, but it you mod a PSP then you are able to play PSx ISO's.
I have a DS Lite and PSP but mod on neither of them. Though I have considered it in the past.

I agree with you, Oldschool. I'm conflicted on whether or not I should buy it - especially with the low battery life. So what if it has a camera and SD card slot? Big deal. The only thing that is remotely appealing is the better WiFi capabilities - although I'm not certain how much better they will be. I might just buy another Lite this Christmas but it depends. Oh and here's a site comparing the DSi and DS Lite: kotaku.com/5057883/lets-compare-the-ds-lite-and-the-dsi

I got the DSi a few days ago and wow, pretty big letdown. firstly, camera and music editing are totally unneeded. You cant even upload from your comp to the DSi, just the otherway around. Least the camera is better quality than my phone. maybe. Second, no GBA slot? that sucks so bad. Third, even with the miniSD slot, there is no way to run roms, and even my old DS r4 doesn't work on it. Hopefully someone will crack it soon. At least the screens are slightly bigger with better res. I had to get it though, my old DS's R and L buttons broke down, and short of a triwing, the water and blowing method of removing dust just slowly made them worse.

Yea, and now they're releasing the XL version. The box is as big as that of a pizza box. I think somewhere along the way, Nintendo forgot what handhelds were about.

[glow=maroon,2,300] I totally agree. Right now, my DS Lite is my GameBoy, cuz my used GameBoy WILL NOT CHARGE no matter what. So now, call my DS Lite, GameBoy Lite![/glow]

I now haz a DSi, and a good disappointment in battery life. 3 hours shorter. Not good for playing while pretending to sleep at night.
