I am in the market for a Laptop for college and I could use some help. Right now I really like the dell inspiron 8600. I would like it to be a M so the battery lasts awhile. The laptop must meet these requirements and be between $2000-3000.
Requirements: PC Compatible Laptop Computer
Windows XP
Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Pentium 4M 2.8 GHz+ or Pentium M 1.6 Ghz+
Memory - 1GB Ram (Yes it is stupid that college demands 1 GB)
60 GB Hard Drive
Audio Card
32MB Video Adapter Card (prefer 128mb)
CD-RW (prefer DVD-RW) DVD
802.11b or 802.11g Wireless NIC
10BaseT Ethernet Card USB 2.0 56K Modem
Warranty - 3 years parts and labor on-site (damage protection policy strongly recommended)

If you're getting your labtop from stores, Toshiba's are within that price range and are very dependable. If you're getting one online, then definetly check out alienware: www.alienware.com

Only get an Alienware if you have a lot of money to burn and you're going to use it for games.
I'd reccommend the Dell Latitude line, myself.

I'm pretty sure landon already knows alienware at least a LITTLE bit considering that they're now sponsoring him and all . and um, they probably know more about laptops than I do so I'll just go now.

Good choice, Dell's are probably the best PC's on the market besides Alienware and they go for a great price too. Although Alienware is built for games, gaming PCs are by far the best types of computers you can buy; Gaming requires more from a PC than any other type of program. But, the only problem is that they're ridiculously expensive

Sweet deal! Those sure are some nice specs, especially for that price tag.
