Thief 3 (Deadly Shadows) comes out for the PC today!!! As you can tell by my sig, I am a huge fan of Garrett, master thief. Of course, when I get the game, I will ONLY be playing in First-Person view. Anyone else excited about this game release?

I myself never actually played a Thief game but due to all the hype and such, I think I'll probably try this one out.

Get it for the PC, and not the XBox, and play ONLY in first person mode! ;D
Let me know, Sektor, what you think of it, and tell me how you think it compares to Splinter Cell.

I didn't manage to play this on the PC but I took a shot at it for Xbox at my local EB. The first person mode works fairly well and the game (naturally) has alot of emphasis on stealth. Lock-picking doors is also key in this game, it's a really nice feature. I found it very enjoyable and from what I've heard, it's a worthy sequal

Whats the deal with only in first person view Sokar? Only pussies play Thief in 3rd and on the 'Box. I'm definitely getting this soon, along with Doom 3. ... System Shock 3 is desperately crying out to be made...

First Person on Thief--if Looking Glass was still around today, they would smack Ion Storm so hard across the face for ever implementing third person in a game that REVOLUTIONIZED first person gaming (they essentially invented the lean). And yes, System Shock 2 was an amazing game. Imagine if they even re-released it using the UT2003 engine? How scary would that be?

/me drools at the thought of SS on the UT2k3 engine But the Dark engine that SS2 runs on is basically a modified UT engine... one of the reasons ShockEd is so easy to use.

Yeah, Deus Ex was built on a UT construct as well. But not the UT2003 engine! Have you seen UT2004? It used the same engine and it's gorgeous! Thief 3 puts Splinter Cell to shame!

I'm sad to say that, no, I haven't seen UT2k4. But I did get Thief 3 last night.

The long load times and the level partitions are kinda sucky, though (no more super large levels like from Thief 2 ). Still, I think it's great. Owl, how do you think System Shock 3 should be done?

I haven't opened it. Me parents say I can't until school's out (tomorrow). I'm dying of anticipation, though...
Hm... SS3... the Rebirth guy should work on the wireframes, I know that much. =P Other than that, mechanics-wise, I can't really offer much.
But Ion Storm (or whoever gets the privilege of developing it) shouldn't f00k it up, or I'll... *rolls hand Mafia boss-style*

Actually, Ion Storm, if they don't pull that multiplatforming crap, could make an awesome System Shock 3 as a way to redeem themselves from the mediocre Deus Ex: Invisible War. However, they really have been pissing me off lately, so I don't know who could do it. Imagine if System Shock 3 was made by Tom Clancy's Redstorm?

Deus Ex: Invisible War sucked so much ass it's not even funny, and I usually find ass-sucking hilarious. Imagine if System Shock 3 was made by Tom Clancy's Redstorm? ... "Red Team: Goggles, Hacker" Goggles: Walther PPK .7mm, Heartbeat Sensor, Flashbang, Steyr AUG Hacker: Walther PPK .7mm, Heartbeat Sensor, Electronics Kit, SPAS-12 In the game: "OMF GU FAIL COZ U GOTZ SHp0TT3DD!111X0r!!1" It would suck royally, in other words. =O Red Storm couldn't develop SS3 to save their lives, at least not well.

Haha, I know, I just thought it would be funny.
Tom Clancy really can't do games at all, haha. Did you ever see the ragdoll physics in Rainbow Six 3? It's terrible!
