You guys honestly think that Advance Wars 2 will be different enough to warrant the $40? I would like to try it, because the original AW was pretty fun, but not if it's just a rehash of the original AW.
Whenevet someone happens to obtain a copy, fi they could post their comments about it here, I would greatly appreciate it.
Anyway, what I definately need to know is if the computer AI is tenfold more challenging at least than the original AW. I will refuse to buy AW2 if the AI is so stupid that the game will have to rely on preset AI-advantage situations (such as the Grit levels) to make the game difficult. I don't want to see any more APC trashing or Infantry-only targetting "techniques."

Here is what Nintendo Power said about the difficulty(at least for Campaign):
"The campaign begins in Orange Star with several easy missions to warm you up. Nell provides strategic tips about AW2's units. After the first few battles, flags representing new battles will appear on various territories on the Wars World map. You can check each mission's level of difficulty by moving the cursor over each flag. Choose any mission you want. Every country contains a hidden map to a bonus area, where the Black Hole Army is developing high-tech weapons."
Also, someone told me the AI seemed somewhat smarter.

From what Ive heard from people that err... "have the game", it doesnt blindly attack APCs anymore. It will attack units like Medium Tanks and Rockets over APCs for sure. Also, if there is a one HP Infantry and a Tank and two enemy Bombers, one at full health and one a 3 HP, the full health Bomber will now always attack the Tank and not the Infantry. There is probably someother kinks worked out, like the massive useless Lander production the AI would do sometimes maybe. The AI is definetly better in AW2.

I will wait for it to be released in final version and I will ask you guys to keep me posted again. So far, it seems promising, since harder AI is really all I want. Thanks for the updates so far.

Thanks for the updates so far. Yes it does get really hard. I heard that it gets so hard that if you make one wrong move, you might as well start over.

That one-time-shot thing sounds more like a single player issue. I'm sure in AI skirmishes in VS. are different. That's what I'm really interested in. Single player to me was never that fun in AW because it was so rigged in favor of the computer AI, despite the fact that it was rather dumb.

Sounds promising. Anyone who gets it, if you manage to play VS. mode (not single player campaign) against a computer AI, let me know how it compares to the original computer AI.
Thanks!
