Does anyone think nintendo might lose the handheld market to the ngage? Not that i seriously believe it, but the SNES was perceived as teh domoinant foce in gaming and it seemdd nintendo would always ride at the top but sony took that away from them. It seems teh Ngage already has a huge user base and if the networked gmes are worth a damn then you have quite possibly an adequate rival to the gba. I think nintendo should cut a deal with nokia to develop for the ngage of buy the rights or something, so us gamers get good stuff and nintendo isnt screwed.

I highly doubt Nintendo will lose the handheld market to the N-gage. The N-gage's games look mediocre at best and it isn't made just for games. If people want a portable gaming system, they would be smart to buy a Gameboy instead of the N-gage. I also read in EGM that it isn't that great and the controls are awkward.

But neogeo wasnt too bad. ;D
However, all of you have points, it just seems nintendo should explore the wireless market with the gameboy and possibly a cellphone/pager option.

N-gage is nice.
But of course, Sony is making the PSP, anyone heard of that? It uses discs instead of cartridges, that hold 2x more information than regular PSX discs.
By discs I mean cds... just for the newbs.

y won't people just leave nintendo alone in the hanheld industry. i also wonder y the gamgear did not last long it had color and backlight way before nintendo. well any way the gameboy sp beats it by alot. i don't like this new portable gamedisc player idea either. what happenes if the disk gets scratched or how would you save? I don't want to spend like $10-$20 dollars buying a memory card!! does anyone agree with me?

I think they should stick with making it for games only instead of adding cellphone/pager options. If people wanted those, they could just get a separate cellphone/pager. Besides, it would make it more expensive.

i guess good games come first, but wireless is the next logical jump. Either that or making a co op with nokia and making a kick ass phone/gameboy.
Um, all the next gen systems use discs, would your prefere cartridges?
Id pay for a mem card.

Well the advantage of having a mini disc player is that they're (first of all) able to hold more information than cartridges. And also the way the PSP works is that it has a built in memory, like the Xbox, so that you have FAR more space than on a cheesy cartridge.
If the disc gets scratched... well I've been playing Playstation since forever, along with PC games, and I've never had one of my discs get scratched THAT badly.
In other words, you'd need to be pretty careless to get something that portable and easy to manage damaged so bad to where you can't use it.
Take a regular playstation game (say... Final Fantasy Tactics original) and replace the polygons with sprites, AND add more memory and longer games...
There you have it, Sony PSP.
I also know that the sound system is FAR better than Nintendo's 1x2 centimeter mono stereo. The PSP's screen size is also larger, and you can also buy blank discs to upload music and such onto.
See where I'm coming from?
It's like having a hand held PSX with better graphics, and a hand held tele to go along with it... thus it's name... Playstation Portable.
