Ok, at my workplace, I have to distribute something called ProfNet. It basically summarizes news stories that upcoming publications would like to cover (such as Time Magazine, Women's Health, ComputerWorld, USAToday, etc.).
Everyday, I look over this Profnet and you know what surprises me? The amount of reporters who still want to write stories about September 11. They keep talking about it as if it happened two hours ago.
Ok, this is my opinion, but I'm a little sick of 9/11. It was tragic, it was impactful, and it was a time that nourished courage and pride in America. However, time has past. America is still America--it ain't collapsing anytime soon just because of one day. People need to move on in life! The terrorists score points everytime we try to relive that horrible day. Can't the American people accept and move on rather than dwell on it? Seriously, I dread 9/11's first year anniversary. Not that I want to forget 9/11 completely, but I really don't feel like getting sad all over it again. Let me live my life in peace for once.
Think about the people who lost loved-ones. You honestly think they want to be constantly reminded of the tragedy? Doesn't writing about 9/11 all the time kind of diminish the respect and privacy that those families deserve? Let them live their life in peace!
This is my opinion, please don't flame me. I'm in NO way anti-American, but people trying to sustain 9/11 just get on my nerves every now and then.
Feedback is welcomed.
