Earthbound for SNES has the best sound track EVER!!! And they also got those trippy backgrounds when you get into a fight.

The blitzball music and fighting Jecht at the end of the game music for FFX. They are the same music I think.

I like a lot of the Super Mario RPG, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre(PSX), Shining Force, and Castlevania music.

The classic 2D Sonic the Hedgehog games all had good music because it always perfectly matched the environment you were in.

The same thing with the music in Chrono Cross. It always matching the environment or the emotion of the characters. For instance, the music when you are in Viper Manor is quiet and gives you the feel of truly sneaking around.

The same thing with the music in Chrono Cross. It always matching the environment or the emotion of the characters. For instance, the music when you are in Viper Manor is quiet and gives you the feel of truly sneaking around. An example of when game designers abuse atmospheric music: Eleanor and her sappy, teary-eyed music in KoL. |
