I was thinking more along the lines of how older generations needed a religion to believe in, because it gave them strength and hope. Examples like after the Great Depression, or during the Cold War where people were so afraid they were going to die from nuclear war, etc. Even after some of the modern events, I still see no reason to believe in God. Besides, all of the crap that is going on in the world today is due to religion, so what the hell. |

I believe in God. I'm not super religious just because of that, but I wouldn't doubt the existance for a second.
BTW, this is my opinion, but I think the ones who think that "under God" should be taken out of the pledge are really stupid. I mean, we're in a war and they're worrying about THAT? Eh.....I better stop now or I'll get into a rant mode. This was not directed at atheists in general, just the ones who think that

By the way Namco, if you would at least think for a moment you would realize that I combined what you said about not a real war and D-Guy's not completely bombing it into one post answering both in detail. Namco, D-Guy, shut up. I don't know how old you two are but get your facts straight. We ARE in a real war. The terrorists declared war on us on 9/11, unlike what many people think. We are counterstriking. The reasons we have not completely bombed the middle east with nuclear weapons is because of several reasons. One, nuclear weapons have not been used since World War II, and for good reasons. When they used that one, they saw how destructive they can be and damaging to the ozone and atmosphere, and that if a nuclear war was ever declared it could and would bring Armeggedon to the Earth. Our country and all other countryies knew that, so we vowed to never used nuclear weapons again. That's why Sadaam is the man we're posed for attack against, if that madman uses the nuke it could bring about a hugely disastrous war, worse than many people think. Second, we are not at war with the middle eastern people. We are at war with terrorists. They strike innocent civilions, if we did the same we would be no better than them, that's why we haven't bombed everything. Civilion casualities will happen, but we are trying to prevent that and help the countryies we liberate to freedom.
So after all that is said and done, you should know more Namco and D-Guy before drawing conclusions

You can't call it a war, because the Congress never signed a declaration of war, so maybe YOU get your facts straight. That's the only way a war is official. And what you said of why we don't use nukes is true, but also common sense. I'm sure Namco and D Guy were being metaphorical saying the middle east would be a crater or nuked off the face of the earth. Just like calling the campaign against terrorists a "war" in a metaphorical sense. So everyone needs to cool out, and drop it. Maybe some people don't like to talk about it as Finalboss said.
BTW, this thread isn't about the morals of nuclear weapons, or terrorism. So I suggest you drop it.
