www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/games/crash.htmlI don't think that video games will die out altogether, 'coz there will always be new gamers graphics whores to take their place. What I do think is that pretty soon games will be just like the old text-based Adventure: minimal input from the gamer, maximum output from the game in forms of eye and ear candy. Even now, It takes a while for me to really get into a game. I still want to play, of course, but the quality of most of the games out right now are just so horrible I can't be bothered. Discuss.

I do think there will be a point where you just CAN'T get graphics any better, but that doesn't necessarily mean the end of the video game industry... Unless all gamers think about is the graphics. I think the next two biggest steps graphicly that the game industry could take are: (1) holograms (possibly what the ds will do) and (2) Like the article said, matrix-like virtual reality gaming. After that, it's really the quality of the games. I really wouldn't mind if the gba and gamecube/ps2/xbox remained the same graphic wise in 20 years.

That article didn't convince me of anything except that video games are not dying.

Pshh. People are still writing books. People are still writing music. The RPG business will probably catch on more as people realize that most shooting games, racing games, and others are just rehashes. People will still buy sports games updated with the new season, but otherwise identical to the last game.
Also, i'm not altogether convinced we can reach a graphic limitation. Graphics are an art. It's not necessarily about making the most realistic graphics. It's about getting the feel right. And that's hard to do.

The graphics need to fit the game.

Video games wont die out. They will continue to evolve. The graphics now are almost perfect exept a few glitches that are hard to fix.
