and now I feel a little sad. I played the piano for almost 10 years, more than 8 with my last teacher, and I just came home from my last lesson and put my piano bag away. I know I complained a lot about it, mostly practicing and all, but now that it's all over it's almost as if I just lost a good friend. Actually I'm not really sure what to think.

So you're done with gr 10 piano? I took piano lessons for 4 years or so, then quit at gr 5 because my mom always said I never practiced (which I didn't) and it was a waste of her money. =X Well, maybe if I got to play songs that I actually LIKED... Well, I've been playing piano again recently, mostly FF songs. What I really hated about piano lessons was that they made you take the stupid exams and then you have to do the theory shit.. then there's that harmony and history shit... Sounds like hell... so.

Well it was suzuki lessons, so we didn't have any exams, or measure it in grades.
There were reasons as to why I quit though, the biggest being I haven't had a lot of time for it lately, and I'll probably have even less in the near future.
have any of you done something similar. Like playing a sport for a while and then stopping knowing you might never play it again.

I play a little of the guitar, getting some lessons from my friend who is really good with it. Practicing is a pain, but it is kinda nice being able to play something

Learning new songs is a pain. Sometimes I just get lazy and give up.

Learning new songs is a pain. Sometimes I just get lazy and give up. I remember when I first started learning guitar, and committed myself to learning this one Blind Guardian song. Well, it's been four years and I still can't play it. Damn thing's got more notes in the intro than I can play in an hour. *takes this as a sign he needs to practice a lot more

I tried Piano, but I didn't last for more than 2 years. Too much dedication. Unlike other skills, if you don't practice for a while you only lose a little of your ability, whereas not practicing on the piano for say, a week, leaves you with NOTHING, and you have to play a lot of catch up. The life span of piano skills is so short, and not knowing if I could maintain them, led me to quit. Also, $20 for 25 minute lessons is ridiculous, IMO. Ghosty, maybe just try to make an effort to play around on a keyboard or something once a week or so just so you don't lose your skills. Piano playing gets the girls, I'm sure.

I really, really REELY wish I had learned to play the piano. My mom can play well, but I chose not to. Now I'm kind of sad because I don't have too many skills..well, I guess you could count THAT as a skill.....tee hee! I noticed that several kids at my friend's church can play really well, and that kind of just made me sad lol.

I kind of wish I took piano more seriously and didn't quit, then I would have more technique than I do now. :/ Well, I didn't though and I quit... so my technique sucks
