I think the Ogre Battle series is dead and I think Square Enix buying out Quest is what killed it. I was hoping Square would continue working on the series after FF12, like they said, but they seem to have put all their efforts into the Ivalice Alliance and the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII collections. I lost all hope for the Ogre Battle series when I heard Yasumi Matsuno left Square. All the Ogre battle and Tacics Oge games were great even if Matsuno was only behind 2 of them, but with his departure from Square I don't think one of the greatest series of videogames will ever get a closure it deserves.

Oh ye of little faith. I think there will be another...but not for a while. I think they plan on leaving some time pass and then re-introducing the series once more. Hopefully it will be on the DS but I doubt that so who knows?

I think I will continue to have little faith as long as Square keeps porting inferior TRPG'd like Front Mission and Final Fantasy Tactics.

I thought that Atlas made these games. Well, this is the only one I've played. I did play a little of the beggining Let Us Cling Togethor for the SNES, but it's only in Japanese.

LUCT is on PSX if you are willing to shell out $80. Atlus is a publisher and does not make videogames. They bring games over to the U.S. as a middle man and sell them. Square Enix owns the rights to the series and will be making any future games. They bought the rights about five years ago if I recall.

Five years ago? Isn't that about the time The Knight of Lodis came out?

Yeah the franchise was sold soon after TKOL's release. It has been in Square Enix hands since.

Man this is just like Rareware, they made good games until they sold out to Microsoft.

So I guess it is kind of doomed?

i think they could make another tactics ogre, same game mechanics and classes etc, 'cept maybe not put the words ogre or tactics in the title.
put Yasumi Matsuno in charge, make it for the ds and include a wfc mode, and u'd be set

Hey guys. New here ;D and just wanted to chime in and say that with all the recent successes with SRPGs in the States and Japan they will hopefully come back to this great series. Can you imagine a Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle with the power of the 360 or PS3 behind it? Makes me drool... I know there was a rumor of a Wii version, that seemed to die away, but let's keep our fingers crossed! Hell I'd settle for a re-release of any of the old ones with beefed up graphics...

I'd most prefer they put it on the DS, but thats just me. I find that TRPG's are most fun to play on the move anywhere.
Oh, and Front Mission and FFT inferior? Please are you kidding me?

Yeah. Most likely it would be a DS or PSP release, since that's where all of them seem to be coming out.
Front Mission is awesome, I always meant to play the PS releases, but the SNES one is great. FFT is a good series as well, but IMHO not as good as the ogre battle games, especially in terms of depth and difficulty.
There's a new Xbox360 SRpg that just came out, looking forward to trying it out. Nazi Zombies! How can that go wrong....?

I think we'll have to see how well FFTA2 goes over, and if there's enough interest, there might be enough support to try the next TO.
