Alright, so I know that a characters element plays a part in battle. That much, I am well aware of, but I'm curious about the Bane and Virtue elements, due to the fact that, in all technicality, they're not real elements, but alignments. For instance, if you (through the use of cheats) make Saia a soldier, his element goes to Earth. Lobelia's turns into Water. So does that mean, even if they have Bane/Virtue, would they still have the strengths/weaknesses of Earth/Water? Also, when using Barren soul on an enemy with Bane/Virtue, it still goes by the four main elements.
Also, does Alignment play any real role in battle, or is that simply for class changes?
Thanks!

I do not totally believe that gameshark turning saia into a soldier means his alignment is secretly earth. I believe the game does take note of virtue and bane alignments since there are quite a number of classes with them. You are right barren soul only allows the character to do one of the four main elements. I firmly believe that virtue and bane are true elements due to multiple classes and weapons that contain them.
Alignment plays no role other than class changes in this game.
