MMORPGs stand for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. In these types of games, you play the role of one character who you chose online with thousands of other people. The majority of them arent story driven at all (redmoon, everquest, runescape, first star online, dark age of camelot, and many more). What makes these games addicting is the competition. You just want to be the #1 player out of everyone else. But, these games come at a monthly price, and sometimes it isnt that cheap either (they usually range between 5-15 dollars). Do you think they're worth the price? Playing a 10 dollar monthly fee game for a year would mean you pay an extra $120 let alone the purchase price of the MMORPG itself. Are these types of games really worth it? Or should people steer away from them? Tell me what you think

Yeah, lag and cheaters is a constant problem. Remember FSO? I think it really depends on the game. Some games allow you to download for free and then pay monthly from there on out. For me to buy the game and then still pay monthly for it, the game must be godly. I think the only game I'd ever buy and pay for is Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming World of Warcraft. www.blizzard.com/wow for more info

i would say it REALLY depends on the game. like sektor said the only mmorpg i would pay for is world of warcraft which should be hard to hack into because blizzard are anti hacking freaks.

It depends on the game, but also almost everyone of them that you have to pay for are overpriced, so I picked No.

i pick it depends on the game. There is this game called tibia that i play it is free or you can have a premmium account(which you have to pay). But premiums get a lot of cool stuff. they are able to start guilds, buy guild halls, rent Flat houses and go to 2 cities that are only for premmys. it is really cool.
I have also played runescape. I stopped PLaying that game 3 months ago because i could not afford to wait for the 3d upgrade. The members accounts there suck all you get is extra items and quests.while in Tibia all Items are free for anyone to use. So are all the quests. The only thing that sucks is that I can't find any quests.

I think it depends on the game. But I'm also leaning towards no. When I buy a game, I want to be able to do everything in it without paying extra money. That's another reason why I don't buy games that require monthly fees. But then, I don't really like online games anyway. Damn cheaters and stuff.

I really don't think its worth it, personally. They cost far too much for it to be worth it.

Well that's kind of why things such as Battle.net and such are so good... they're completely FREE.

I am a veteran Everquest player. It is completely worth your time and money. Games that you need to pay for use the money to further enhance the product. EQ had GameMasters who had the ability to perform just about any task, in case you encountered a glitch. The system works very well, 4 years ago you might have fallen down through the floor, then you'd report that bug, and they'd patch it. Now there's an incredibly smaller amount of bugs. The GM's also help to prevent cheating and exploiting glitches by being able to permanently ban the account. It's VERY worth it to pay. I'd rather pay $10 bucks a month and be able to walk around without having to look at morons who intend to kill the feeling of the game. Gm's have the ability to edit names. In WC3, this was annoying, as people would have names like "f0ndlemygoods". These are promptly changed to fantasy-appropriate names. It's worth it.

I'm looking forward to World Of Warcraft, it really looks promising... Then again my favorite computer game company is Blizzard Entertainment so any game from them is a must have for me. I tried Dark Age of Camelot and let me tell you... Its not beginner friendly and its a pain to level. Also, it gets quite repetative later on... unless you got addicted to it

Warcraft 3 is so awesome.
There is no online PC game better than this IMO.
